Launch of the JOINT ACTION PLAN II

The Local Coalition Accelerator Uganda on 20th January, 2023 launched the Joint Action Plan II (JAP II) project aimed at empowering refugees and host communities through four thematic areas; Education, Livelihoods, Health and Child protection and also integrated Cash Based Transfers.

The project saw the change in the lives of children, youth, women and persons living with disabilities through equipping women and youth with entrepreneurship and digital skills, increase access to education through refurbishing school blocks that were in poor condition, distributing 1000+ scholastic materials and 320 desks to enhance learning for children including those with disabilities. JAP II also contributed to the increase in access of health services through partnering with Health Center IVs to provide them with equipment. The cash-based transfers also enhanced the lives of 500 plus refugees and host communities.

This was evidenced at the End of JAP II Event where the implementation partners attested to the work of the LCA and potential partners appreciated the impact.

200 Mattresses given to Masulita Children’s Home

LCA-Uganda responded to a call made by the Kampala Capital City Authority of supporting the Masulita Children’s Home with beddings. In January, 2024, over 200 children were rescued from the streets of Kampala and taken to the home without any essentials like beddings that they would use while they are there. LCA Uganda distributed 200 mattresses to the children and 100 blankets to use while they are at the home as opposed to sleeping on the tiled floor.

Distribution of Goods and Construction

The LCA has distributed millions of goods within the community right from the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic which include; face masks, food items that were distributed during the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, distribution of 500 desks to schools including desks for children with disability, construction of a playground with play materials for children with disabilities, refurbishment of a dilapidated classroom block and addition of a rails on a walkway for children with disabilities which have all created enormous impact within the community.
